$200,000 Powerball Prize Won in South Dakota

For Immediate Release: 8/31/2008

(Pierre) - A Powerball ticket sold in Custer is worth $200,000 after Saturday night’s drawing. The lucky ticket matched the five white balls, but not the red Powerball, to win the prize.

While the ticket missed the $70.9 million jackpot, it still beat the 1:3,563,609 odds to win the game’s second prize.

The winning Powerball numbers for the Saturday, August 30, 2008 drawing were: 02, 14, 15, 32, 47 and the Powerball was 36. The Power Play prize multiplier was 3.

Because no one matched all six numbers in Saturday night’s drawing, the estimated jackpot for the next drawing on Wednesday night grows to $81 million.

Lottery director Norm Lingle said the ticket holder should sign the back of the ticket immediately, put it in a safe place, and contact the Lottery office in Rapid City (605-394-5106) or Pierre (605-773-5770) to make arrangements to validate the ticket and claim the prize.

Lottery offices will be closed on Monday, September 1 for the Labor Day holiday. The winner has 180 days to claim the prize.

Powerball is played in 29 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1:146,107,962.
