Pierre, S.D. – South Dakotans are closer to getting a new lotto game that offers three ways to win and the potential to create more millionaires.
The South Dakota Lottery Commission today approved rules for MONOPOLY® Millionaires’ Club (MMC), a $5 national lottery draw game scheduled to launch Oct. 19, 2014 with the first drawing set for Oct. 24, 2014.
Unlike other lotto games currently offered in South Dakota, MMC has a top prize, not a jackpot. Top prizes start at $15 million and are capped at $25 million. Each lotto ticket will contain five numbers and a randomly drawn Monopoly property, a Millionaires’ Club Number, and a web code. Players can win three ways: by matching the draw numbers to win cash prizes, including the top prize; if the top prize is won, triggering a second drawing, and having their Millionaires’ Club Number randomly drawn for a $1 million prize; and by entering their web code on the MMC website for a chance to win a trip to Las Vegas to participate in a national television game show.
The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are 1:10 while the odds of winning the top prize are about 1 in 73 million. Drawings will be held Friday nights at 10:15 p.m. CT.
The South Dakota Legislature’s Rules Review Committee will now consider the MONOPOLY® Millionaires’ Club rules at their Sept. 16, 2014 meeting.
