(Pierre) – A Powerball ticket sold in Rapid City is worth $200,000 after Wednesday night’s drawing. The lucky ticket matched the five white balls, but not the red Powerball, to win the prize.
While the ticket missed the $175 million jackpot, it still beat the 1:3,563,609 odds to win the game’s second prize.
The winning Powerball numbers for the Wednesday, March 5, 2008 drawing were: 10, 15, 16, 23, 31 and the Powerball was 5. The Power Play multiplier was 3.
Because no one matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing, the estimated jackpot for the next drawing on Saturday night grows to $200 million.
Lottery director Norm Lingle said the ticket holder should sign the back of the ticket immediately, put it in a safe place, and contact the Lottery office in Rapid City (605-394-5106) or Pierre (605-773-5770) to make arrangements to validate the ticket and claim the prize.
The winner has 180 days to claim the prize.
Powerball is played in 29 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1:146,107,962.
