(Pierre) - John Sundahl of Pierre and Ronald Bjerk of Watertown won back-to-back $20,000 Dakota Cash jackpots last week.
Sundahl won his prize in the Dec. 6 drawing. When checking his tickets at a local store, the clerk told him it was a big winner and he’d have to go to the Lottery office to claim his prize.
"I had a good day that day, telling people," Sundahl said. "But, I started doubting it was true and had to keep checking my numbers."
Sundahl purchased his ticket at the Fresh Start Convenience Store on East Wells in Pierre. The store will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Bjerk discovered he’d won the very next Dakota Cash drawing on Dec. 10 while having some tickets validated. "I kept saying ‘Pinch me. Wake me up,’" he said.
Bjerk bought his ticket at the Cowboy Country Store #2 on 9th Ave SE in Watertown. The store will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Dakota Cash is South Dakota’s very own lotto game, and is played only in South Dakota. To date, 85 players have won the game’s top prize.
