(PIERRE) – Tracey Feldman of Wall on Dec. 6, 2010 claimed her $30,000 Mega Millions prize for the Dec. 3, 2010 drawing at the Rapid City Lottery office.
She purchased the Quick Pick ticket at the Corner Pantry in Wall; the store will receive a bonus of $3,000 for selling the winning ticket. Feldman matched four of five white ball numbers and the Mega Ball to win the game’s third prize. Normally, the match would have garnered her $10,000 but because she also purchased the Megaplier option for an additional $1 per play and the multiplier drawn was 3, Feldman’s prize tripled to $30,000.
Feldman, who works at the Corner Pantry, normally buys her tickets there and usually spends the extra dollar for Megaplier. She says this time that definitely paid off.
“I was in total shock that I’d won $10,000 and then one of my co-workers reminded me that I had Megaplier on the ticket and that I’d really won $30,000. It hasn’t sunk in yet. This is the kind of thing that happens to other people, not to me,” she said.
Feldman first found out she had a winning ticket when she used the ticket self-checker at a local grocery store and received a “report to Lottery office for winnings” message. Her husband, Doug, was the first to hear the good news but he wasn’t surprised.
“He told me he’d dreamed the night before that we won the lottery. I might have to start paying more attention to his dreams,” she commented.
The couple has four children – Shelby, Aleshia, Timmy, and Todd – and Feldman says she plans to use part of the money to do some Christmas shopping. Also on the agenda is paying off some bills and putting a portion of her winnings away for the future.
Although she’s still getting used to the idea that she’s a big winner, Feldman says she’ll continue to keep playing and says to other players, “Your day will come!”
