Holly Lahti of northern Idaho (her hometown is not being disclosed) on Jan. 11, 2011 claimed her half of the $380 million Mega Millions jackpot from the Jan. 4, 2011 drawing.
Lahti waited a week to claim her $190 million; the other ticket holder, Jim McCullar of Ephrata, WA, cashed in his lucky ticket on Jan. 6, 2011. Idaho Lottery officials say Lahti has yet to decide whether to take the one-time cash option that would net her just over $120 million before taxes or the annuity option. She has 60 days to make that decision.
The Idaho winning ticket was sold at a convenience store and car wash in Post Falls, ID. The business will receive a $50,000 bonus from the Idaho Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
The $380 million jackpot for the Jan. 4, 2011 drawing was the second highest jackpot to be won in Mega Millions history.
