An Oak Park, IL family has anonymously claimed their half of the $37.5 million Powerball jackpot from the Dec. 11, 2010 drawing.
The Illinois Lottery announced Jan. 18, 2011 that the winning ticket has been claimed by the Shim Partnership, an unidentified Oak Park family. The partnership split the jackpot with 24-year-old Muncie Meade of Louisville, KY; both had winning tickets that matched all five white ball numbers and the Powerball for the drawing. Meade collected his share of $18.75 million on Dec. 13, 2010.
The Illinois winners purchased their ticket at a gas station in Forest Park, IL before heading out of town for a family vacation. While not frequent players, the family felt lucky since it was their son's birthday and decided to purchase a Quick Pick ticket. The store will receive a $187,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
