(PIERRE, SD) - The South Dakota Lottery has $10,000 waiting for a lotto winner who purchased a Hot Lotto ticket last August, and time is running out to claim it.
The ticket, sold at Hy Vee on South Louise in Sioux Falls, matched all five regular balls but not the Hot Ball in the Aug. 21, 2010 drawing. The winning numbers were 3, 14, 15, 27, and 38; the Hot Ball was 16.
Lottery executive director Norm Lingle says the prize will expire if it is not claimed by Feb. 17, 2011.
"Occasionally people will tuck the ticket away somewhere and forget that they have it. With just a few weeks left to claim the $10,000, now is the time to check any older Hot Lotto tickets that you may have in your possession. If you find you have the winning ticket, be sure to sign the back of it and bring it in to a validation center as soon as possible," Lingle said.
Lotto prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing and can be claimed at any of the three Lottery offices which are located in Pierre, Rapid City and Sioux Falls. If the prizes go unclaimed, state law requires the money to go back to players by funding prizes in subsequent lottery games.
