Ronnie Orender of Bakersfield, CA has claimed his $51 million Mega Millions jackpot from the May 3, 2011 drawing.
The winning ticket was one of two Orender's mother, Etta Urquhart, purchased at a Bakersfield gas station with $2 her son had given her to buy tickets for them. Currently, Orender is a truck driver but now has plans to retire; he also says he'll use some of his winnings to purchase a new house, take care of his family and possibly donate to charity.
Orender took a single lump sum payment, putting his take-home after taxes at about $32.3 million. The Mobil station where the ticket was purchased will get a bonus of $255,000 for selling the jackpot-winning ticket.
