Iowa Man Claims $9 Million Hot Lotto Jackpot

For Immediate Release: 5/9/2011

Larry Dawson of Webster City, Iowa has claimed his $9.09 million jackpot from the May 7, 2011 Hot Lotto drawing.

The 58-year-old financial planner purchased his winning ticket at a convenience store in Webster City. The business will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. Dawson plans to use some of his winnings to expand his business, among other things.

Dawson's Hot Lotto jackpot win is the second in a row for the Iowa Lottery. The Hot Lotto jackpot was last hit on Dec. 29, 2010 when a ticket worth $16.5 million was sold at a Quik Trip store in Des Moines. The holder of that winning ticket has yet to step forward to claim their prize.
