(Pierre) - It wasn’t a Powerball jackpot, but it wasn’t bad. A huge Christmas gift arrived a few days late for Wayne Lemme of Madison when he matched all six numbers in the Saturday, December 28, Wild Card drawing to win the $856,000 jackpot. The Madison police chief will take home $625,000 after taxes. The numbers drawn were 2, 5, 10, 11, 14, and the Ace of Hearts.
Wayne, a regular Wild Card player, bought his lucky ticket at Mike’s Package Liquor in Madison. He hasn’t decided yet what to do with his winnings.
Wayne is the second Wild Card Jackpot winner in South Dakota. The first was Joseph Toman of Mitchell, a winner of $332,000 in January, 2002. In all, South Dakotans have won over 2.6 million in the Wild Card lotto game.
