A group of 22 co-workers from an Ohio cabinet company has claimed the $99 million Mega Millions jackpot from the Aug. 5, 2011 drawing. The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased at a Speedway gas station in Jefferson, Ohio. The winners work together at a Kraftmaid plant in Middlefield, OH and have pooled their money to buy lotto tickets for several years.
The winners chose to take the cash option which amounts to about $65 million. After taxes, each of the 22 will get about $2 million. The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1:175,711,536. The gas station receives a bonus of $99,000 for selling the winning ticket.
The Mega Millions jackpot currently sits at $12 million for the next drawing tonight (Aug. 9, 2011). The game is played in 41 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
