(PIERRE) – All it took was two scratch tickets for Dale Pastian of Gregory to win a new car. While the first ticket didn’t net him the new set of wheels, it won him enough to get the second ticket, which did.
On January 17, 2012, Pastian became the third and final winner of a new Chevrolet® Camaro® from the South Dakota Lottery’s Camaro® Cash instant scratch game. The $5 game offered players two ways to win one of three new cars: instantly by uncovering the word “Camaro®” on their scratch ticket or by revealing the word “Entry” on the ticket which they could enter into a drawing to win a car. In May of 2011, Lori Hoffman of Mission Hill won the first car instantly and in October of last year, Talena Standing Bear Montelongo of Wanblee won the second car through the drawing. This week, Pastian picked up the third.
While Pastian, a father of two and grandfather of three, isn’t a frequent lottery player, his son recently convinced him to purchase some Camaro® Cash scratch tickets to see if he could win the car. So, on January 11, 2012, Pastian went to Buche Food Store in Gregory over his lunch hour and did just that.
“I grabbed four tickets, three for me and one for my son. His wasn’t a winner and only one of mine was and that was for $5. So I took the winning ticket back in and instead of getting the five bucks, I just used the cash to get another scratch ticket,” he explained.
And it was THAT ticket that won Pastian a new car. Pastian redeemed the winning ticket January 17, 2012 at the Sioux Falls Lottery office, accompanied by his wife, Madeline, and his son. No decisions have been made yet as to the specifics for their new vehicle.
“We’ll work with our area dealers to see what options are available and just go from there,” Pastian said.
Because the final top prize in the Camaro® Cash instant scratch game has been won, the game will no longer be available for purchase at local lottery retailers. People with winning tickets have 180 days from the announced end date of the game to redeem their prizes.
