$10,000 Lotto Prize to Expire February 20

For Immediate Release: 2/1/2012

(Pierre, SD) – If you purchased a Powerball ticket in Hermosa last August and haven’t checked the numbers yet, now’s the time to do it. The South Dakota Lottery says a $10,000 ticket has yet to be redeemed from the Aug. 24, 2011 drawing and time is running out to claim it.

The ticket, sold at Flying J at 25 N. Heartland Express in Hermosa, matched four of five white ball numbers and the Powerball to win the game’s third prize in the Aug. 24, 2011 drawing. The winning numbers were 9, 13, 47, 49 and 53; the Powerball was 39 and the Power Play was 5. At the time of the drawing, the odds of winning $10,000 playing Powerball were 1:723,145.

The prize will expire if it is not claimed by Feb. 20, 2012. Players are encouraged to check any older Powerball tickets they may still have in their possession and if they do find the winning ticket, sign the back of the ticket immediately and bring it in to a validation center as soon as possible.

Lotto prizes must be claimed within 180 days of the drawing and can be claimed at any of the three Lottery offices/validation centers which are located in Pierre, Rapid City and Sioux Falls. If the prizes go unclaimed, state law requires the money to go back to players by funding prizes in subsequent lottery games.
