Ben Aning of Sioux Falls today claimed his $10,000 Powerball prize from the August 15, 2012 drawing. Aning matched four of five white ball numbers and the red Powerball to win the game's third prize. The odds of winning $10,000 playing Powerball are 1:648,976.
The winning ticket was purchased at Hy-Vee on South Minnesota Avenue in Sioux Falls. The store will receive a $1,000 bonus for the sale. Aning's was one of two tickets worth $10,000 following the August 15, 2012 drawing. Susan Janssen of Madison claimed her prize August 16 on a ticket purchased at Mike's Package Liquor in Madison.
Powerball is played in 42 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The jackpot currently sits at $40 million for the next drawing on August 18, 2012.
