Ticket In, Ticket Out Update

As a result of Senate Bill 152 being signed into law, the South Dakota Lottery is partnering with Light & Wonder to implement ticket in, ticket out technology on VLTs.

Discussions between the Lottery, Light & Wonder, and our licensed manufacturers are in their early stages. Currently, we are reviewing administrative rules to ensure that this technology can be implemented.

We will provide further updates when they are available.

Partial Sales from Operator to Operator

When an Operator is completing a partial sale to another Operator, please remember to follow these steps to ensure a smooth transaction:

  • Submit a Bill of Sale form from Operator to Operator showing it’s a partial sale. The form will list the serial numbers and permit numbers with buyer and seller signatures and date.
  • The selling Operator must send the Lottery transportation forms with final meter readings and audit ticket for final revenue reconciliation.
  • Boards in machines being sold need to be sent to the Manufacturer of the machines to have the boards' RAM cleared. The Manufacturer needs to complete their portion of new registration and transportation form and send it back to the Operator with the cleared boards. The Operator will then complete their portion on the form.
  • Once the boards are cleared by Manufacturer, the Operators will then make the Lottery aware. The Lottery will email inspectors the bill of sale informing them machines are ready to be inspected. At this point, they are treated like a new machine and the inspector then emails the new registration and transportation forms with audit ticket to the Lottery. The Lottery will switch from the old Operator to the new Operator in the system before the machine is brought up.

Manual Ticket Validation

When you are manually validating a ticket from a SAS machine, please remember to enter the validation number found just under the ticket's barcode.

For Non SAS machines, please remember to enter the Ticket Number, which can be found on the line below the validation number. Please remember to not include any zeros at the beginning of the ticket number.

For more information, the Operator Portal has tutorial videos explaining this process. If you have any issues completing a validation, please contact the Lottery's support center.
