Milesville Resident named NASCAR Powerball Playoff Finalist

Alana Neville will get her own pursuit of the checkered flag thanks to the NASCAR Powerball Playoff.

The Milesville, S.D. resident was announced as one of the 16 nationwide finalists for the promotion, giving her a chance to win $1 million at the NASCAR Cup Series Championship™ Race on Nov. 2 at Phoenix Raceway®.

“I was overwhelmed,” Alana said of learning the news. “I didn’t realize how many states did this and not every state has a finalist. I felt really honored to be chosen.”

Alana’s race for glory began when she entered the South Dakota Lottery’s last chance social media contest for the NASCAR Powerball Playoff. When she was selected, she became one of 10 South Dakotans who were entered into a national drawing to determine the 16 finalists.

Over the next few months, Alana and the rest of field of lottery players will take part in a series of elimination drawings that mirror the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs™. The NASCAR Powerball Playoff field will be cut from 16 to 12 to 8 to four finalists.

The final four will receive the trip to Phoenix and entry into a final drawing for $1 million. At worst, Alana will receive a $2,500 prize for making it to the round of 16, but she has much bigger dreams.

“I have thought about the trip, but I have to make it through three eliminations,” Alana said. “It gets me excited.”

Alana notes that she would be very excited about experiencing a NASCAR race live. She remembered watching NASCAR with her parents growing up and has already begun to research today’s drivers.

“I really like the classics like Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt,” Alana said “My parents watched it, so I’m more familiar with them. I’m excited about possibly winning the trip, and it would be quite the adrenaline rush to go.”

The NASCAR Powerball Playoff’s Round of 12 will be announced Sept.13.
