Pierre Resident Wins Jurassic Park Adventure!

An adventure awaits Katey Lukkes after she became the latest South Dakota Lottery player to make the most of second chance.

Katey is the winner of the South Dakota Lottery’s Jurassic Park second chance drawing, which features an all-expenses paid trip to Oahu, Hawaii. The Pierre resident, along with  winners from around the country, will also take part in the CHALLENGE for a chance to win a share of cash prizes up to $1 million.

Katey’s Jurassic Park fandom inspired her interest in the ticket.

“My daughter and I love the Jurassic Park movies,” Katey said. “We have four of the cardboard dinosaur stand-up movie posters in our basement and have had two Jurassic Park-themed birthday parties.”

While Katey indicated that she doesn’t often enter second chance drawings, the opportunity to visit the site where Jurassic Park was filmed piqued her interest. Her winning entry was one of 19,937 non-winning Jurassic Park tickets entered.

Katey noted that she was shocked when she received the news that she was the promotions winner. She indicated that she first told her husband, who will accompany her on the trip.

“It was a big surprise and surreal, I did not think I would really win,” Katey said.

The concept that Katey could return home an even bigger winner through the CHALLENGE isn’t lost on her. While she has thought about those possibilities, she’s also enjoying the trip that is on the horizon.

“It is going to be a great trip that I am grateful to be able to experience and hope my luck continues,” Katey said.

Now that Katey has a T-Rex sized winning experience, she also left her fellow players with some advice.

“You can't win if you don't play!”
